Know the difference

An adapter changes the plug—not the voltage.

Plug adapter

Helps a plug fit a different socket shape. It does not change the electricity supplied by the outlet.

Voltage converter

Changes voltage for a device that is not compatible with the destination supply. Check the device maker’s instructions before use.

Dual-voltage label

A charger marked, for example, “Input 100–240V, 50/60Hz” is designed for that listed range. Always read the actual label on your device.
